The drive from town in Honolulu takes about 30 minuets as you pass sheer cliffs and famous areas such as the Blow hole and Hanamauma Bay. The beach is surrounded by lava rocks and 100 foot cliffs formed by Oahu's volcanoes over a million of years ago with strong mighty waves breaking on its shore. Sea Life Park the popular oceanic center is right across the street from this area. For locals its a popular body-surfing spot but if your not used to the big waves you should be cautious and careful..

With a 5 minuet Drive by Car : Honolulu Waikiki Beach , take Kalakuau ave the street the boarder Waikiki beach then drive around Diamondhead that will lead to Kalanianaoli Highway called H-1 Kalanianaoli Hwy which follows the wraps around park of the eastern shores of the island coast. Follow this road also called H-1 you will then head up Koko Head Crater where Hanamabay is and pass the famous blow hol called Halano then you will passs Sandy Beach and up towards the cliffs where there os the Makapuu lookout point . Makapuu beach is right around the corner from there and is viewed on the cliffs the parking lot only holds up to about 30 cars so make sure you get there early . Scenic views of an island called Rabbit island is off about 300 yards from the coast as you may see in some of the photos..

~ There are also BBQ areas to sit down with picnic benches that are linned with many Hau trees on the edge of the beach shore . there are many pathways for photos such as th bridge or tree cover plus a small idilic islands near the entrance of the resort.
